Yeh!! After listening to the otaku of the otakuSsssss… my youngest brother…
I've finally managed to install ubuntu on my twinhead, super old twinhead, model efio!121A, you can't even find that model on twinhead website anymore…
And guess what…
Installing ubuntu is just like a breeze… so fast, smooth, and easy…
Even better than installing a Windows XP (ya, it's only made for XP, and nothing more, though, with XP it's already making damn loud hissing noise) if I'm not using the OEM version…
Cos, after installing the standard windows piece of OS, I'll have to look here and there, and download the drivers…
Can you imagine the pain??
With ubuntu, all the drivers are taken care of…
Even connecting to my home wireless is effortless, it auto-detect…
I don't even have to go to 'network management', to look for the wireless network…
Ah… but it's not as easy and as "for dummy" as I put it…
At first, I took a few days to struggle with the usb installation,
Cos, I thought I just use this software unetbootin to prepare the usb, it'll work, and I can boot from usb, and install from usb, save me one CDR…
But then, failed many time…
Then, my otaku brother mentioned to me, different usb behaves differently,
Oh wow!!! Like that eh!!
So, I changed to another usb, still doesn’t work…
I even doubted the version that I've downloaded… thought of giving up…
But then… I suddenly realized, just one piece of CDR, doesn’t do any harm, (pueh!! The windows OEM even takes 2 CDs man!!)
And anyhow, burning the software image to the CDR is something that'll happen down the road anyway..
Without thinking twice, I prepare the image CD, and boot from the CD…
After that… it's like big bang!!! (haha, exaggerated a little bit, but you know the feeling, bang!!)
And now, I can do anything (except 2 things) with my twinhead, fast and easy…
My notebook is like… has regained its second life… so amazing, with ubuntu…
I don't even have to go through the headache to find those so-called drivers…
Ubuntu rocks,
Ubuntu's amazing… ^_^
The 2 things I'm yet to settle is,
Chinese input! (if firefox, there's one solution, ie. fireinput, but then, I need to type my writing sometimes, anytime, even offline, I need to be able to type, so, firefox's not a solution, maybe I should try the "note" addons for firefox, or, anybody know if thunderbird has similar addon?)
AND,
The celcom's mobile broadband…
Em… my otaku brother shared with me this,
But after browsing through this page.. With so many commands… I'm already like this, @_@
Later I'll try… (of course)
Anyway…
Ya, another reason that I've decided to give it a another try, after many failures with usb…
Is that, I read from those otaku's forum,
There's something like this, which "trigger" my LiveCD try…
It started when somebody posted and asked, how to install ubuntu (cos, apparently, installing ubuntu should really be very EASY)
And the reply is something like,
"it's very easy, even a chimp can do it!", but then, the person, after being sarcastic, actually posted some guidelines…
(ooh!! Even a chimp can do it, I MUST do it then!!)
Then, another person came onboard, and said that, it's right to ask, bla bla bla…
Then, a passerby, said something like, "no wonder windows still rule the world," bla bla bla…
Haha!!! That's why I want to TRY!!
