Earth Hour or not?

Since the Earth Hour day's approaching,

I suddenly thought of this… yes, while rinsing baby's cloth diaper…

I know, because of this "event", there're a lot of business people seeing business opportunity for this, ie. party…

Good and bad…

While, most of the people are busy "attending" one…

I was wondering,

How many!!

How many out of these people, who're attending the event, are a real earth person?

I'm not saying I'm one of them, at least, on the "earthian" basis,

I give myself, just a passing mark…

I mean, I don't strive hard to achieve one, but then, I do remind myself to be one…

Get it?

How many of these people, eat more vegetables? Or eat more organic farmed vegetables?

How many of these people, who happen to be parents, cloth-diaper their babies/toddlers, and mothers - breastfeed…

How many of these people, who actually shop minimally… (ok, just like my previous blog, I'm "on my way" there… at least, I know very well that, being a mother, make me a better person, kinda… and Praise the Lord for that…)

How many of these people, who don't drink, don't smoke… come on!! Party people!

My failed part is…

I need airconditioning…

The weather's very hot… damn hot… and I know, the more airconditionings out there, up and running, and hotter the weather will be…

Chicken and egg…

Another chicken and egg thing… the weather's changing, it's colder around this time, compared to previous years… again, due to the global warming or whatever it is…

Weather pattern's changing, kinda shifted… my layman-term observation, ie. it used to snow around dec-jan in the northern hemisphere, but it still snow… NOW… scary, if you ask me…

And because of this,

I acutally CAN, and able to sleep without airconditioning… the second half of the nigh… till the morning, till the noon… good huh?

So, minimal…

Another failed part is…

Gosh!! I've to on my PC… NO MATTER WHAT,

And, yes, NO MATTER WHAT…

I can live without the rest, but no, my life will be meaningless, without my PC, without internet…

What a big enemy to the earth, right?

Back to the Earth Hour thing…

Therefore, the whole thing, yes, I know, it's out of good will… but when it's turned into the money-making reason for business people, and while it's becoming so POPULAR…

How many of those people who SUPPORT the idea… actually live the idea?

My second Cloth Diaper Review… ++

ok, I've to say, I waited nearly half a year for this new generation of KS diaper... HALF A YEAR!! in fact, I wanted to buy more of KS3.0 when I figured out they're good night diaper for my baby, but I discovered them too late, they're all out-of-stock,

so, within this half a year, what did I do? I ventured into Knickernappies, they've good, I've to say, but for a price of RM90, and the cutting is a bit small...

so, I only own one!

KS diaper's never failed to be the top within the local brands, though, GH diaper's also upgraded to 2nd and 3rd generation, but then, I will never ever consider using them as NIGHT DIAPER!

a night diaper, where you know, the next day, you won't find any leak, and baby's comfortable in it,

I'm not a very hardworking mom, and also, I'd like to have my baby to sleep through the night, and the morning, so far, with KS3.0, I added another doubler on top, (ie. 3 layers) and it lasted for nearly 12-13 hours!

The day I received my first value pack of KS4.0, if feel solid, yep, what I've practices so far, after >1 year of cloth-diapering my baby, which I truly enjoy, as my friend in Australia said, it's ADDICTING! but I'm a person who likes solid colour! for some reason, so, my first pack of KS4.0 - white, blue, pink...

I thought KS4.0 will be just slightly different from KS3.0, em... like GH diaper (they've changed to better pattern, but I'm not a pattern person) but KS4.0 is all different from the previous generation...

While I was prepping the diaper, ie. few washes, I notice, the "inner" kinda dry slower...

and I thought, hm, "what is this??"

but anyway, I still proceed to try them out, now, my personal finding is,

I do know the reason KS call it a hybrid diaper, it's bamboo + cotton,

but in my opinion, the hybrid means to me,

FITTED + POCKET!

what else can I ask for?

cos, there was once, I actually wanted to go fitted, the only thing that let me back off is that, fitted, you need cover,

but now, coincidently, KS delivered just what I needed, fitted, cos, I've used sugar peas fitted, I actually like the "natural" feel of it, and the inner of KS4.0 gives me exactly the feel... needless to mention the much improved soaker, which is way different from the previous generation,

the soaker, is like leeches which sucks up one's blood... gory definition, but the soaker definitely is very thirsty soaker...

at least, now, those diaper that make me "suffer" at night, I can even TRADE IN with all my purchase... kekeke... better still, I need to go dig out more, and trade in, mark my word...

one thing lack of is,

I really wish wish wish that, KS will offer more colour, as I'm a fan of solid colour, and let me tell you this, with the price that KS's offering (serious!! such good value for money), if one day, they're offering 10 colours or more, I'll buy all of them without any doubt!

in the end, we all need one diaper that can last long, not something that, after a few washes, it'll be loosen,

another thing about KS diaper, even the generation 3.0, I've mentioned many time is that, their gusset design is lovely, that's what you really want, for night time nappy, and it's solid..

especially when baby grows older and wiggle so much, my baby, after few moves, say, if I put on a disposable diaper for her, or other looser type of cloth diapers, the diaper will just NOT SNUG nicely, and it'll have gaps, ie. leak!! ie. I suffer!

lastly, serious, KS4.0 comes to me, just right in time, cos, baby's diet changes, and the urine kinda give her mild rashes, I've tried all sorts of diaper-compatible brands, all didn't work well... I mean, to get rid of the rash, in the end, I still need to use the from-the-store, mothercare diaper cream, after rescuing the rash with BUDS SOOTHING ORGANICS Nappy Rash Rescue Cream! (oh, KS has it!) and hehe, I know most of the other people will say, we can't use conventional nappy cream from the store with cloth diaper, but like I said, since the inner has changed in KS4.0, a thin layer of it, actually doesn't give any leak!!

serious! now I'm busy looking for older/not-working/bought-wrongly diapers, to trade-in!

But I plead to the store owner, to offer more colour...!! then my night diaper collection will be perfect, and some other brand like rumparooz, can retire.. (happy heinys have long "retired" to be night diaper, they've gone to the "playtime" dpaper stash, ie. not >3 hours, I hate their velcro, the tape kinda get "mashed up" after a few wash) and both rumparooz, happy heinys, the elastic bands, I'm not sure if they can last 3-4 years! but I'm sure KS diapers will... like I said, when you hold something solid in hands, you'll know... for eg. bumgenius, and knickernappies, they're nicely solid, but how much do they cost?

In fact, when I posted that review, I don’t have any ulterior motive,
Simply I've nothing better to do :)
And I like to write anything… any single thing that comes into my mind…


Below's the review:


i've had a few KS CD, i've to say, for local brands (GH, lunatots, freshbots, crazymomy) this is the best ones, i'll call it, the M'sian version of BumGenius.
However, i notice, the outer layer of PUL is different between blue/red and the rest of the colour, and i prefer the blue/red ones, the yellow especially feels a bit hard, but it's just the outer layer, overall performance still good.


I wish KS will come out with more and more colour choice, and maybe consider XL sizes, i like to collect different colours of CD, if KS will have more new colours - like maroon, lavander, brown - i'll be the first customer to buy...


KS is very good for day use (i've not tried night use, but i'm confident it can serve the purpose, like i said, it's the m'sian version of BG) after trying to many brands, i know what type of CD can pass for night use, and i know KS will do the job - that's why lo, need more colours, for me to improve my 'system'


lastly, the edge of the sides - gussets, are good for containing the mess, vs. another brand, they actually make the crotch area smaller, will sure fail to contain mess
and the velcro tape is one of the strongest i see... ie. baby will not be able to take it out so easily.. even for adults


therefore, MORE COLOURS MORE COLOURS, PLEASE!!


And guess what I got in return,
The owner of the shop's quite delighted to see my review and asked me if I want to be their tester..
As more diapers will be coming up… but before they're launched, she needs testers… and that she'll send me the 'new' CD sample for testing...
Since I'm using the CD on baby, so, it doesn't matter if I gain, or not gain anything… so, I offered my 'services'…
And I've been doing stress-test on the KS CD on baby for night time use…
Frankly… so far so good… going into the 9th month, she's quite a heavy wetter at this stage, the imported Happy Heiny's already failed the night nappy task, therefore, I've to 'promote' this KS CD and 'demote' the HH for day/evening use...
(I was a bit worried that the fact will disappoint the owner, but well… then, I'll keep the good news till later)

green mom green kid – a better tomorrow?

the other day, I had a weird dream…
I dream that, the end of the world is coming, that, the earth is going to tilt…
tilt as in, N-S pole’s tilt to where the existing equator is…

however, as I’ve mentioned a couple of time, now, my dream will always have baby…
maybe… maybe if I were to dream of such dream before I’ve baby, I won’t feel a thing, but now, even if I dream of my favourite “going for a trip” type of dream, it’ll be worrying…
as I’ll always have, “how’s baby going to cope?” type of worry… (I guess, that’s the price to pay, for being a mother)

I ran through the list,
to a certain level of consolation, I’m actually quite a ‘green’ mother…
well, I’m never a great person, and I’m never a person with great topic to talk about, or, to lecture others…
how others live, frankly, is not my problem, and I’ll never tell you that, my style is THE style…
I only like to gossip, or talk about tiny-mini bits of daily life with friends, who don’t talk about serious stuff… ^_^ it’s more relaxing that way…
come on!! you don’t want to end up in a conversation everytime you meet up with your friends, talking about life, talking about future, talking about things that you can’t really own, or things that you can’t really do, and you realize that’s the truth, and you start to get depressed, right??

[oh! let me detour a bit again… I just finished watching this jdorama, “BOSS”, and one of the episode is talking about a serial killer who believe in those type of killer/play-God type of personality, and the “BOSS” said, 2 types of people have this potential to become such type of killer, first type, is teenagers, who still have not lived in the reality world yet, second type, is middle-age people, who’ve lived the reality, and have realized that, their future is already ‘finalized’, and there’ll be no more changes, hm… interesting]

ya… off the list…
I did not purposely want to be green, as I said…
I don’t turn off my electrical items in my household, I like to put them on standby… (that’s bad)
and I don’t categorize my trash…
only 10% of my shopping time, I’ll ask for ‘no plastic bags’
but luckily, parenting make me a better earthian!
though… as I’ve mentioned, I didn’t start it on purpose… it’s only ‘thinking of the goodness’ for my baby… and it slowly lead to this result…
I inherited most of the stuff from my dear friend meiling for baby, her crib, her walker, some shirts, even old pairs of shoes, really, I’ll say 75% of those big/expensive items that you’ll need to welcome your firstborn…
we rarely buy toys for her, all her toys are given as gift when she’s born… (and I still don’t really believe in toys)
I chose to breastfeed, simply because I want to, and secondly, it save money – not because of all the ‘good’ things listed in all websites, or, it’s green…
I eventually switch to cloth diaper, simply because I want her to feel more comfortable… and not because of any other great reasons…
but eventually… I guess, it turns out as overall good result…
and, as for baby-friendly product… simply because it’s baby-friendly, but most baby-friendly product, happened to be environmental friendly…
for eg. Bud’s baby product – bought her baby bath shampoo, cream, massage oil, etc. cos, I thought I want to give her massage sometimes… and babies like to put their hands and feet in their mouth, so, you can’t simply give them other products than organic, cos, most of the other things are full of petroleum by-products…
and we visited the local organic shop again, Just Life, cos, we thought we want to get this baby rice cereal for her… ^_^

and now…
I think of my dream again…
IF, if tomorrow really is the end of the world due to global warming,
am I going to regret as I’ve not lived green enough???
and my baby’s going to suffer?
well…
I may not say “I definitely will, and I’ll start living green now”
but I will certainly hesitate, and have doubt…
and the doubt is good enough, to give you or me, the answer…
