further viewing of "by my side"

In fact, I don't really follow the series 100%, just a bit here and there…

And of this week…

They're trying to show that, how pitiful the family is… where the guy Bu Fan, got AIDS, due to 1 occasion of betrayal to his marriage, with a hooker (which he didn't know, he thought it's just some ONS)

Now, he's been rejected by the society, and since his wife decided to forgive him, seeing him so pathetic, and wanted to support him, as well as the family, so, both his wife, and daughter, are slowly being rejected by the society too…

Their neighbours insisted them to move out from the condominium,

Their neighbourhood hawkers requested them to bring back the food to eat, rather than stay at the stall,

The wife, a tuition teacher, is slowly terminated from all her tuition classes, (private home tuition)

And the daughter's being dismissed from her swimming class…

Etc…

Ya, it's challenging for them, very..

And also "challenging" for me to watch this sort of drama…

Which side are you on??

When I update him with the story, he asked me, is it shown in conjunction of the AIDS day?

I told him, I don’t know, if it is, then, it's very hearty of Astro AEC, else, it's just a coincidence, cos, there aren't many AIDS related show to be shown every year…

I guess, this drama,

First, to pass a message to polygamy believers, or "don't mind to betray once in a while" believers…

Second, and most importantly, is to educate the majority - the viewers, that, AIDS only contracted via certain ways… (not through mosquito bites, not through sneezing, or coughing, or shaking hands… like H1N1, TO A CERTAIN EXTENT, IF YOU'RE A FAITHFUL PERSON, AND DON'T DO DRUGS, I GUESS, H1N1 is actually more dangerous!)

Third, also to educate the majority - do not isolate, or reject an AIDS patient, due to lack of knowledge about AIDS..

Fourth, to share with the majority of the viewers, that, AIDS patients, and their family, SUFFER!! BADLY, if we don't accept them…

Fifth, which is not so strongly emphasized, I guess, it's because mediacorp also do not dare to take the responsibility… is, they mentioned, "it's treatable", ie. there're drugs, if you continue to take, life can be 'prolonged', but it's not 'curable'…

Hm… just like my first posting, this show does carry some weight… as a show itself… in fact, the entertaining part, which is the love story between Bu Fan's brother, Bu Qun & Yu Han (ya, nearly it becomes baby's chinese name)…, it's to 'feed' the 'commoner' viewer's appetite…, well… seems like Yu Han also has some secret/history to share…

Let me slowly follow it through...

The title? Again, I'm trying to be funny, if you can't get it, can't get it lo!!
If you remember Chow Yun Fatt's show (大丈夫日記) - the one he's 2 wives, 1 is Joey Wong, the other one… ahem… I can't recall.. Anyway, in it, he sang this song, "oh very nice! 大丈夫是我"…


Haha, anyway, in fact, this is about another mediacorp show…
Gosh, I've been watching too much mediacorp shows (what to do? I don't subscribe to any of the chinese package from astro, ie. I only get to watch AEC)
Lately - starting last night, 7pm, they've started another new series "by my side" (不凡的愛)
Just like what I've posted before, "A Life of Hope" (活下去) - which is about dialysis patients, this time, they're showing life and family and friends(or no friend) for those AIDS patients…
Why do I get such title for this blog entry? Cos, when I saw it (the first episode) I was thinking, "oh, very nice!"
Haha! Sorry lo… that's how my mind works, and how it wanders most of the time…

If you read the sypsnosis (I'm surprised that, they don't archive it in their mediacorp website) you'll know that, it's talking about people with AIDS, and also, the main characters, before this guy discovered that he's AIDS (due to this ONS with a prostitute, in a way, I say "serve him right", or serve all this type of men right!!) the story was slowly brewing the problem in their husband-wife relationship… ie. the wife's not been doing her 'part' after she nearly died when she was giving birth to their daughter…


In fact… (I hate to say)
I do appreciate a lot, of mediacorp making this type of meaningful shows… just like "a life of hope" (funny thing is, they use the same guy, he did mention in his interview, that, maybe he looks like a sick person - and with that show, I understand in more detail, of how a dialysis patient's life is… SAD!!)
That reminds me of many years ago, before taiwan's "invaded" by those semi-china-semi-japan 偶像劇, they used to make good shows like this too…
I remembered one of the series (ya, a lot of people complained, as taiwanese shows are always very 'teary', however, I thought at least, they carried more meaning in their stories, and they're all original, unlike the 偶像劇nowadays… anyway) is about breast cancer…
The lady found out that she's breast cancer, while she's pregnant with her child, and also, altogether, to make it even more dramatic (2 types of sickness in a show), the husband's became infertile (I'm not sure if that's the right word though) due to his sit-all-day office job (yes, you'll get it, that's why I'm not interested in bankers, hahahahahahahaha!!)…
And because of all these… she decided to give birth to her only baby, without getting any treatment (well, I believe with the recent medical advancement, it can be solved, right?? Though.. I've to say, in fact, I've a similar worried when I was pregnant with baby)…
So, the story goes on as such…
She's slowly distancing herself from the husband…
She actually started to look for a 'replacement' wife for the husband, but yet, she gets jealous…
Gosh!!! You can imagine how the story goes right???
Anyway, I forgot the ending… (how else can it end?)
But yes, in fact, I like this type of medical issue shows.. Maybe that's why I've been following "HOUSE M.D." - though, they don't establish much on the patient's family, and as if House cares!!


Nah… just another sharing session regarding health, regarding my TV shows… ^_^, cos, I care… I care about health… and just like our filmnegara's been advertising lately,


Taking care of our own health is our own responsibility… and don't forget the old chinese saying, 健康就是財富。
