See, I've been having my slow cooker for don't know how many years…
And sad to say, I didn't know how to really use it all these while…
Until.. After I gave birth to baby, one night while I was surfing (the internet) like nobody business… I saw a comment,
Somebody (over a forum) asked "what's the kitchen appliance that you can't do without?"
Some said microwaves, or, conventional ovens, but minority said "slow cooker"…
Hm…
And since we actually moved our slow cooker back to this place, when I was preparing for the arrival of baby… (the confinement lady requested one!)
Though it was back in cold storage after my confinement…
After I saw that comment, I was thinking, "huh? Slow cooker?" (I've used it to make chinese soup before, but it actually overflow… later I figure out, it's because I was using "high" mode, in fact, to make things easier, one should just switch it to "auto", blimme!!)
So I decided to take it out to give it a try…
Wala~~~~~~~
Ever since,
I've used it to make chinese soup - it's not so good to use if you wanna use chinese herbs to make herbal soup, for herbs, to bring the taste out, it's still better to use FIRE!!
But it's extremely useful if you want to make carrot, turnip, celery, potato soup… especially since baby's moved to the "taking solid food" stage, it's very convenient to have a slow coooker…
Normally I'll just chuck every single thing that I want, in there, switch it to "auto", then, dinner's soup is prepared…
Before I add in any salt (sometimes, I don't even add any salt to any of our soup) I'll just pick the vege that I want for baby, set it aside… (since it's better not to add in any additional artificial stuff for baby's intake at the moment, ie. salt, sugar, etc.)
I find that it's the best way to cook such type of mixed vege soup, as all the vege will turn very soft, for the consumption of baby…
So far, that's how I've been using my slow cooker…
And what more to say, I found that, the one that we're having is actually "made in japan" (kakakakaka!!! Ya, anything made in japan's good, if the other day when I saw it, it's "made in china", probably I'll have tossed it away, and bought a new one!! ^_^)
AND… for these 2 nights, I've been experimenting other stuff with my slow cooker..
In fact, it's because I'm having some mild flu (irritated throat with cough, a mild one) and to cure my cough (for baby's sake) I thought of making some double-boiled rock sugar + egg…
Well… I'm not sure if it's a sure-work recipe, but that's what my father's been making, whenever we've cough when we're young…
Since I still have some rock sugar left…
As sometimes, I need to run to baby and attend to her, therefore, anything that need to keep an eye, is out of scope (that's also THE REASON WHY I'VE NOT BEEN LOGGING ON TO RESTAURANT CITY ON FB, but I've started to login again, cos, too many friends have overtaken me, ie. my ranking, in restaurant city!! Oh! How annoying!!)
So, I thought of using the slow cooker to double-boil the rock sugar + egg…
Result?? Hm… not bad…
And tonight, I gave it a second shot…
I added milk… (arrgh.. Hopefully tomorrow my cough will really be better, I don't like cough, serious!)
Result? Not bad either… keke… I can do this more often, just to "yun" our stomach/throat once in a while…
Egg+milk!! Very "yun" man!!
