24 - Tony died, OFFICIALLY!! CRYING OUT LOUD!!
Tony died, Tony died!!!!!!!!
I knew it, but I don't want to see it!!!
Poor Tony, when he's finally awake, he found out that Michelle is DECEASED!!
When he's kinda awake and wanted to kill Hendersen, Jack stopped him!!!
Just like the terrorists should never underestimate Jack, CTU and Jack should never ever underestimate Henderson...
Come on!! Henderson is the one who recruited Jack and trained Jack, they're just like each other...
Tony shouldn't have hesitated to kill Henderson!! (Cry!!) and it's because of that split second's hesitation,
Cost his own life... Bloody Henderson, (he's just like Jack, after being tortured to near-death, he's still able to recover and jump around!!) turned around and forced the syringe that's in Tony's hand back to his own neck!!
Wa~~~~~~~~~~ ""(*0*)"" CRY!!!!!!
Poor Jack, he lost one of his mates AGAIN!! ""(*0*)"" CRY!!!!!!
Anyway.. this episode (these 2 episodes, 7-9pm, HA HA! TV here has been airing Supersized '24' to the viewers, what a pamper, and less torture!) is quite a shocking episode,
ie. we heard that, Audrey Raines was the one who sold the schemetic to the International Intelligence Broker (what a good job) and "everybody has a price", Oh!! but Jack said, he's not 'sellable', that's cute! :-)
ie. Lynn McGill died, of good cause... :-( well... I scolded him, when he didn't bother to report that his keycard was taken away, just to save face, but then... it's still sad seeing that he's to die, exposing himself to the nerve gas, to save the rest of the people... like the guard who's with him (he also died in the same event) said to him, "you caused 40-50 people dead, just because you don't want to be embarrassed??", yes, Lynn died, and yes, I felt sympathetic about him :"-(
ie. Jack tried to strangle Barry, and accused him of taking advantage on the stupid daughter Kim, haha!! that's cute!! ya... Barry is soooooo important, cause "he's there when nobody was"---Cheh!! This woman really has never failed to piss me off!!
ie. Wayne Palmer is up to something, but I'm not sure why of all people he has to tell Aaron, rather than Jack??
Well.. wait and see!! :-)

24 - Logan & Edgar
I guess... this season (season 5) of '24' is more... err.. emotional... at least, it's more emotional for me...
it's really quite 'heart breaking' when I saw Edgar coming out from the basement, looking at the bunch of 'survivor' (nerve gas survivor) in the sealed conference room, as it's sealed, so, the room cannot be opened anymore.. I guess, we all wish that the room can be opened again, and Edgar can come in and thus be saved, but no... he's dying... I guess... mm... after all the previous seasons, for once, '24' try to be a little bit emotional... or maybe it's because, for once, for this season, I don't rush through the season, and therefore, there's room to be emotional for me :-)
Previouly, I used to rush through the whole season, 1 hour/1 episode followed by another, tightly, and I could finish the whole season within 1 day, ya, just like I've gone through the full intense 24 hours myself... well... it's an experience.. as if, you're watching 'real time' :-) however... for this season (season 5), I have been watching it on the Australia National TV (Channel 7) and well... the TV broadcaster have been very kind to the audience. '24' is aired in supersized, ie. it's aired 2 hours per day, and 2 days per week, but only for 1 week of a month. ie. after the supersized week, the following week will be back to normal, ie. 1 hour per day, and then, followed by the next day's 1 hour... however, that's good enough for me... otherwise, once a week? come on? the suspense will kill me...
(just like season 3, when Chappelle has to be executed, by Jack Bauer, I didn't like Chappelle at all, he's more irritating than George Mason, and less comedic, but when Jack asked if he's any message or anything to say to some people, after thinking for a while, he actually shook his head and say 'no'. ie. How lonely this man is, and how sad his life is... as sometimes, we all think that, ah!! maybe one day we die, nobody will actually feel sad for us, but then... there WILL always be somebody who'll cry for our 'departure'. However, for Chappelle's case, it really seems to be NOBODY, that's very depressing!!)
Ah!!! and the irritating Kim Bauer is out again... why wasn't she killed by the nerve gas... sigh!!! I find it extremely irritating when she's not thrilled at the fact that her own father is in fact, still alive, and then, after that, she keep lingering on the fact that, the father didn't trust her, and didn't want to let her know that, he's in fact NOT DEAD!!! come on... we all know that, (after season 2, the one with the nuclear bomb threat, in that season, Jack told her not to tell people about the nuclear bomb threat, but then, she almost told everybody she met on her runninng-away route out of LA, come on!!!!)she's the most untrustable person on earth. And when she's even comparing herself with Chloe (the fact that Chloe knows that Jack is not dead) as who's more trustworthy... and Chloe gave her this answer... to shut her up, good work chloe, (I really feel like giving Kim a slap on her so-called beautiful face... nah!!!! Elisha Cubert doesn't look as pretty as when she's in 'The Gal Next Door' anymore, and her complexion deteriorate... serve her right!!) Chloe said to her, "Of all people who knows your father is still alive, half is dead, Palmer was assasinated, Michelle is dead, and Tony is in critical condition now. I am still standing here cos your father found me in time!!" and YES!!! stupid Kim shut up for a while, otherwise, she'll still continue to act as if she's so smart...
Oh!! Back to the topic.. well... I know (somehow I know, read from forum's threads) that Logan will be a bad guy... but, so far, I haven't found him as irritating and as useless as the previous season. He seems to have progressed a little bit. And having his wife, Martha around also helps improve the scenes with Logan... otherwise, like the previous season, there're several time, I really feel like throwing my TV remote control to the TV screen, to smash Logan's face... and recently, both Logan and the wife Martha, well.. both the actor and actresses are nominated for Emmy Awards Best Supporting Actor and Actresses... mm... well done, then!!
Mm... only one wish I have with '24', others die or not die throughout the 24 hours, doesn't matter (since my favourite Tony and Michelle will be dead and is already dead, but of course, I really hate to see Jack's close pals go away/die) but, I wish... hm... Kim will be dead soon :-)
Most irritating roles in '24', since season 1,
season 1 - Terri and Kim Bauer, like mother like daughter, I really can't stand their character as in, both of them are just so nosy, hm!! if Terri is less nosy, didn't sniff around in CTU, which she shouldn't at all, cos, she's just a common civilian, she won't be killed by Nina, and for Kim, same thing goes to her, Nina should have killed her there and then... (That's why, as opposed to MOST viewers of '24', I hate this season the most)
season 2 - Kim Bauer, and Shirley Palmer... Kim, never improves, and Shirley.. another woman who's so hunger of power, and do all the funny things to get it
season 3 - still, Shirley Palmer, good that, she's in the end, DEAD!!!
season 4 - I kinda like this season, even thou it's not that outstanding, cos, at least, all those irritating characters are gone, oh!! ya, now I remember, Audrey Raines... another cry baby, just like Terri, I don't know why, Jack always ended up with this type of women!!! hai...
season 5 - well.. so far so good, Audrey has proven to be much stronger and louder (I like the part she's yelling and arguing with Lynn, so different from the previous season, where she'll just sit there and cry) and she's not scared anymore, and won't disapprove anymore, when Jack 'needs' to torture to get information :-) ghee... Oh!! I like the part where Jack, scare, beat up, yell at Christopher Henderson, still can't get a word off Henderson, and this Henderson (of course, he's the one who recuited Jack into CTU and trained him, so, if we think Jack is good, Henderson, if not better, will be just as good as Jack, so, don't dream of getting any words out of him) keep challenging him to shoot him, then... oh!!! unexpectedly, Jack shot Miriam Henderson, on her uppper thigh... haha!!! that's thrill!! Jack's really a man of action!!! but of course, I guess Henderson knows that Jack is not a truly cruel man, even though he threaten to, but he WON'T kill Miriam, so, in the end... ya, Jack still didn't get anything out of Henderson... sigh...

$5 Dollar Joke
This is another one :-) Cheers!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An Egyptian and an American are seated next to each other on a flightfrom New York. The American asks if he would like to play a fun-game.
The Egyptian, tired, just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks. The American persistsand explains that the game is easy and a lot of fun.He says, "I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me $5, and vice versa."
Again, the Egyptian declines and tries to get some sleep.The American, now worked up, says, "Okay, if you don't know the answer,you pay me $5, and if I don't know the answer, I'll pay you $500." This gets the guy's attention and, figuring there will be no end to thistorment, agrees to the game.
The American asks the first question, "What's the distance from theearth to the moon?" The Egyptian doesn't say a word, reaches into his wallet, pulls out a $5 bill, and hands it to the American."Okay," says the American, "your turn."So the Egyptian asks, "What goes up a hill with three legs and comesdown with four?" The American thinks about it. No answer. Puzzled, he takes out hislaptop computer and searches all his references. No answer! He taps intothe air-phone with his modem and searches the Internet and the Library of Congress. No answer. Frustrated, he sends e-mails to all his friendsand coworkers. Checks the input. All to no avail!Finally, a long time later, he wakes the Egyptian and hands him $500. The Egyptian thanks him and turns back to get his sleep.
The American, more than a little miffed, stirs the Egyptian and asks,"Well, what's the answer?" Without a word, the Egyptian reaches into his wallet, hands theAmerican $5, and goes back to sleep!
The Mighty Show: 24
I think I am really very much poisoned by this show. Last nite, it was the premier of Season 5, right after it's finished in US. Even thou I have already known the plot, and I have already known that David Palmer is going to die. It's still a heartache to see him go, especially it's just within the first 10 min. As well as my goddess, Michelle Dessler.
I haven't even had enough seeing the chemistry between Reiko and Carlos (Michelle & Tony) yet, and that Michelle had to be blown up. (CRY!! How can the script writer be SO cruel!)
I knew!! I knew!! I knew David Palmer will be shot when he's standing at the window!! but, really!! I didn't expect it to be so soon. Within the first 10-15 min, :"-( All the important people in Jack's life are wiped off!! Grrrr!!! While all the irritating people are still around. Watching this show, is torturing, painful, but, that's why I like it so much (laugh!! sadist!!)
AND!!! Why did they not shoot President Logan!! Everytime when I see him, during crisis (particulary Season 4, as for Season 5, real crisis haven't started yet, at the time I watched) the way, he couldn't make decision, and the way, he'll put blame on others, and the way he emphasize who he is so much!! Crap!! Looking at him, increase my blood pressure. Everytime I see him, hear him speak, I really want to throw my TV remote control towards the TV. :-D
Anyway, even before the Season 5 ends (over here) I am already looking forward to Season 6. :->
JACK BAUER FOREVER!!
BOSTON LEGAL
At first, I watched this show purely for James Spader sake. I even try to catch up with "The Practice, Season 8" that's shown on one of the pay TV. I personally loved shows that explore the darkside of human behaviour. Other shows, to me, are too good to be true. The leading characters are far too perfect. That's why, I love this show.
Nothing can be more brilliant and smarter than this show. The more I watch the show, every week, the more I like the character of Shirley Schmidt, and the rest of the casts, other than just Alan Shore, and Denny Crane. However, I do enjoy the conversation between Alan Shore and Denny Crane, it's so true between real friends.
This show, not just explore the darkside of people, which Shirely claimed that's what Alan is good at, but it also shows the friendship, a true and real friendship between people, ie. Alan Shore and Denny Crane.
One thing about Alan Shore's character, is, ie. from Eleanor (The Practice) quote, "he thinks himself as Robin Hood". In a societly like this nowadays, sometimes, we need crazy people like Alan Shore. (not much of Denny thou, he's a bit too crazy to me, however, I do like him)
Alan Shore, is very nakedly true character of everyone of us. We have darkside in ourselves, but usually we try to hide it to the maximum possiblity, cos, we have to be good, good boy, good girl, good parents, good spouse, or good whatever. Yet, Alan Shore is not afraid of showing his darkside... in a way, he is actually very childlike. He doesn't pretend, and he is not that bounded by the society 'practice'. He does what he thinks is right, thou at times, it can be dangerous. However, that's where friends and good colleagues come into pictures. There are always Shirley, or Denny type of people, keeping guard on him. Therefore, I actually think that, he fits well into this present legal firm, Poole, Schmidt and Crane, rather than the one in "The Practice". They didn't know how to appreciate a person like him. At the end of "The Practice" I felt sad for Alan, when he spoke to Eugene. We all know that Eugene hates him, however Alan told him, he just want him to cheer up, and feel more relax about the job, as simple as that.
That's maybe the reason, why he fits well with Denny Crane, cos, Denny Crane IS simple (he said so!)
Boston Legal -- Legal Deficits
I like the part of how Shirley handle the testimony, with the priest. And of course the part where Denny questioning Brad.
Shirley said to the priest in the end, "I have known many good priests, but I definitely will not add you to my list!" and the priest was speechless. I have always thought that Shirley is good at making brilliant conclusive comment, to make the opponents speechless most of the time.
She asked the priest, why he'd stick out his fingers to a person who's already swinging an axe.
She asked the priest, so, it's ok for him to apply cannon law to protect a peodophile person, while, cannon law is not applicable when he forged the Pope's signature, and he traded the supposed concealed information for his fingers.
(I loved it when Denise bravely threaten the priest with his 1 last lost finger)
The way Denny questioning Brad is just soooo funny and inspiring. At first, I thought I missed something in the show. Then only I figured out, that's the way it's done, Denny:"Question 1", then, Brad:"bla bla bla", Denny:"Question 2", then Brad:"bla bla bla". Gosh!! it is just sooooo funny!! and refreshing!!
Boston Legal -- Live Big!!
For once, I get to see how this Paul (Rene Auberjonois) is, and surprisingly to me, he's quite human :-) He's emotion, he feels sad, he feels angry, and he's a daughter!! oh!! plus a grand-daughter. So, now, I know, he's not so inhuamane afterall... cos, normally, I thought he's just being a bad silly boss, who's so much concerned about the firm only.
I cried in 2 occasion in this episode.
First, when Paul's daughter (who, 'apparently' he's abandoned for 7 years, where he refused to pick up her call, ask the security guards not to let her in the firm and etc, ya, a father, actually did that to a daughter) showed up again in the firm, and then, they started quarreling loudly. (Paul asked her to close the door first) After sentence and sentence of own's statments about who's stowing away, or who's leaving who behind, the daughter finally said one thing, "I needed you!!"
3 simple words, but that's a tear jerker.
3 simple words, but it says all about how she felt over the past 7 years, being abandoned by your own beloved father, when you, deep down in your own heart knows that, your life is down the drain, but you thought you've a father to cling on. (her mother, Paul's wife was dying of cancer)
3 simple words, a drug addict plus alchoholic's cry of help!
The second time I cried, is when the man, who's accused of 'murdering' his wife who suffered from alzheimer, as he claimed he wanted to end her suffering, and her gradual lost of her own dignity. (She's a very fiercely proud woman)
Alan Shore told the jury, it's a self-less act, and what more to say, killing somebody you love so much. I cried.
However, in the end, oh!! my second cry is being 'cheated', not by the episode, but well.. ya, by the episode in a way :-)
Of course, with Alan Shore, you'll never loose a case. The man is found 'not guilty', then, with a blink in the eyes, Alan spotted this eye exchange between the man, and the nurse who took care of the wife.
That's HORROR! (ya, horror element in Boston Legal series)
You'll feel a chill down you spine. The man, since he obviously 'won' my tears, then, of course, everybody, including me, including Alan, including Denny Crane, believed that, he's innocent, that he really helped end his wife life, in great pain and sorrow.
But, with that short glance, we all know, as well as Alan, that, it's all lie. Man and Nurse have an affair, Man is so relieved that, he's not guilty. Of course, as Alan (to his horror as well, poor Alan, again, he's mistakenly helped somebody who doesn't deserve it, poor Alan!!) asked him before the splitted in the courtroom, "So, you've anybody to keep you company tonight?"
Man(mankind) can really be the most scary and ugly animal on this planet!
Schadenfreude in Life
This is an article I pulled out of the iVillage.com, it's further elaboration about us committing Schadenfreude in our daily life. :-)
Well, the "elaboration" is just for a laugh!
When Bad Things Happen to Bad People
The "social graces" term of the month is Schadenfreude, a word brought to us by the Germans, meaning "taking pleasure in the misfortune of others." Have you ever said mockingly, "It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy" about someone you didn't care for very much? So have we. But not all mishaps lead to this kind of gratification. Beheadings don't qualify. Nor do car accidents. The serious stuff doesn't make anybody happy. Here are some examples, to help you discern for yourself.
Your boss gets jury duty: Is this a cause for celebration? Yes. Your boss, presumably, has made your life miserable in the past and therefore has it coming.
Your best friend gets indicted: No. You are supposed to love your best friend. If you're a good person, you won't be happy at this unfortunate turn of events.
The straight-A student in your class messes up on a pop quiz and gets a B+: Yes. The anguished expression and trembling lower lip of your anal-retentive classmate should be enough to keep you smiling through lunch. Even if you got a lower grade, you are entitled to some satisfaction here, because straight-A students need to learn they aren't perfect.
The presidential candidate you opposed wins the election, then leads the nation into unprecedented disaster and his approval ratings go way down: No. As tempting as it may be to say, "I told you so," any national disaster presumably affects us all, and there is no room for gloating.
A pregnant woman on crutches misses her train: No. We feel bad for even coming up with this example.
A Broadway show created by two talented young composers wins three Tony Awards. During one of their acceptance speeches, they go over the allotted time and are drowned out by the play-off music: Yes. This happened to us. Bobby was so unnerved by the happy, jazzy music that he omitted mentioning his wife's name. It's okay ?- you may feel free to feel good.
Perhaps Leona Helmsley, the so-called Queen of Mean, gets caught cheating on her taxes (again): Yes.
It is (hypothetically) discovered that the late Mr. Rogers was guilty of the same crime: No. In fact, if Fred Rogers cheated on his taxes, we'd be glad that he got away with it. We love Mr. Rogers.
"Cup of Coffee"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups.
Now if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. Some times, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."
So, don't let the cups drive you... enjoy the coffee instead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I first read, I was tempted to agree with the whole thing, however, ya, I did feel something lack of... maybe, with my own understanding about life, about work, about anything at the moment...
This story IS ideal... AND very ZEN!! :-D
however, I don't want to say I'm disagreeing (err.. because it is very true, and ideal!), but, I just wish to elaborate more, with my own understanding...
Since small... we're never really taught to know, what real "coffee" is...
and from school, from parents, even while we're already grown up and are already working.. from company, from boss... we were never told what real "coffee" is... but!!
use the right tool!!
get the right person!
get the right equipment!
get the right car!!
get the right job!!
oh!! worse still!!
get the right husband/wife!!
ya... we're never educated about "coffee", never!!
however, we're educated to great extent to identify, and the skill to 'fight' for the right "tools"!!
right?
Then... I start thinking... as for me...even getting the "right tools", the idea is not good enough...
In my opinion, life is...
the process in pursuing the right tools, and thus, achieveing the right "coffee" that you want, and you'll enjoy!!
it's the process!!
In actual fact, ya... whatever cup to use, to drink the coffee, doesn't really matter... however... ooh!! the process of browsing through that many styles of coffee cups, and then, choose one that you like, is thrill!!
It's that simple!!
The other day, I went to a cafe downtown, and as oppose to what I usually get from one of the local cafe, a nice cappucino cup, I got a mug for my coffee... Arrgghh!! just like the Starbucks mugs... no thrill... so, I thought, sometimes, the "tool" that we use, can greatly influence our mood at that very moment, and thus, influence my taste bud..
cos... food, drink, clothes, people, life... etc. are all a matter in our mind...
that's why, we have 心情好, and 心情壞!!
because it does contribute to our decision, whether the food tastes good, the drink is great, the clothes is worth buying, cos, it makes me look beautiful, that person is actually quite pretty/handsome!!
Ya... the mood!! the ambience of our hearts!!
Haha, I like the taiwanese way of describing it... the OS!! (ya, Operating System, not sure if they're still using this at present though, "OS" was used about 1 year ago? I think!!)
So, I do think, to a certain extent, "tool" matters... :-D cos, the whole world is built up in this way... that's why, it's a material world!
otherwise, I can imagine the whole world will be just like the Lazar!!!
The 99 Club
這裡, 還有另一個小故事... 又是另一個朋友送來給我的...
故事有一點長... 耐心點唷!!
Long ago, there lived a King. This King should have been contented with his life, given all the riches and luxuries he had. However, this was not the case!.The King always found himself wondering why he just never seemedcontent with his life. Sure, he had the attention of everyone wherever he went, attended fancy dinners and parties, but somehow, he still felt something was lacking and he couldn't put his finger on it.
One day, the King had woken up earlier than usual to stroll around his palace. He entered his huge living room and came to a stop when he heard someone happily singing away... following this singing... he saw that oneof the servants was singing and had a very contented look on his face.
This fascinated the King and he summoned this man to his chambers. The man, his servant, entered the King's chambers as ordered. The King asked why he was so happy?
To this the man replied: "Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but I make enough of a living to keep my wife and children happy. We don't need too much, a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummy. My wife and children are my inspiration, they are content with whatever little I bring home. I am happy because my family is happy."
Hearing this, the King dismissed the servant and summoned his Personal Assistant to his chambers. The King related his personal anguish about his feelings and then related the story of the servant to his Personal Assistant, hoping that somehow, he will be able to come up with some reasoning that here was a King who could have anything he wished for at a snap of his fingers and yet was not contented, whereas, his servant, having so little was extremely contented.
The Personal Assistant listened attentively and came to a conclusion. He said, "Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of The 99 Club."
"The 99Club? And what exactly is that?" the King inquired.To which the Assistant replied, "Your Majesty, to truly know what The 99Club is, you will have to do the following... place 99 Gold coins in a bag and leave it at this servant's doorstep, you will then understand what The 99 Club is."
That very same evening, the King arranged for 99 Gold coins to be placed in a bag at the servant's doorstep. Although he was slightly hesitant and he thought he should have put 100 Gold coins into the bag, but since his assistant had advised him to put 99, that's what he did.
The servant was just stepping out of his house when he saw a bag at his doorstep. Wondering about its contents, he took it into his house and opened the bag. When he opened the bag, he let out a great big shout of joy...Gold Coins...so many of them.
He could hardly believe it. He called his wife to show her the coins. He then took the bag to a table and emptied it out and began to count the coins. Doing so, he realized that there were 99 coins and he thought it was an odd number so he counted again, and again and again only to come to the same conclusion...99 Gold Coins.
He began to wonder, what could have happened to that last 1 coin? For no one would leave 99 coins. He began to search his entire house, looked around his backyard for hours, not wanting to lose out on that one coin. Finally, exhausted, he decided that he was going to have to work harder than ever tomake up for that 1 Gold coin to make his entire collection an even 100 Gold Coins.
He got up the next morning, in an extremely horrible mood, shouting at the children and his wife for his delay, not realizing that he had spent most of the night conjuring ways of working hard so that he had enough money to buy himself that gold coin. He went to work as usual - only not in his usual best mood, singing happily - as he grumpily did his daily errands.
Seeing the man's attitude change so drastically, the King was puzzled. He promptly summoned his assistant to his chambers. The King related his thoughts about the servant and once again, his assistant listened. The Kingcould not believe that the servant who until yesterday had been singing away and was happy and content with his life had taken a sudden change of attitude, even though he should have been happier after receiving the gold coins. To this the assistant replied "Ah! but your Majesty, the servant has now officially joined The 99 Club."
He explained:"The 99 Club is just a name given to those people who have everything but yet are never contented, therefore they are always working hard and striving for that extra 1 to round it out to 100! We have so much to be thankful for and we can live with very little in our lives, but the minute we are given something bigger and better, we want even more! We are not the same happy contented person we used to be, we want more and more and by wanting more and more we don't realize the price we pay for it. We lose our sleep, our happiness, we hurt the people around us just as a price to pay for our growing needs and desires. That is what joining The 99 Club is all about."
Hearing this the King decided that from that day onwards, he was going to start appreciating all the little things in life. Striving for more is always good, but let's not strive so hard and for so much that we lose all those near and dear to our hearts, we shouldn't compromise our happiness for moments of luxuries!
A ghost from the Past? A journey to the Future? CAUSE and RESULT
"Why do I have to end up like this?"
"Why am I doing this now?"
Sometimes, we notice people around us, there are generally 2 types.Those that mingled in the past, and those that wander into the future.
A lot of confused people always wonder, why they are in such situation at present,"Maybe because of something wrong I did before?""Maybe because my ancestors did something before?" (sorry, ancestors!!)However, throughout these year, and also maybe because of my Belief,I started to learn another way of thinking.
Personally I don't like to cry for the past or regret for what I have done, or rather, I have not done.However from time to time, I do have faith of what I am doing, (it can be wrong, it can be right, it can be something constructive, or, it can just be something rather nonsense) as I slowly learn that, whatever we are doing now,it WILL affect the future.
There are people who like to know the CAUSE from the past, (look at those tv programmes, talk shows, particularly some oriental talk shows, again, it's because of their general belief)to find peace for their present life.
As for me, past was too far away for me to imagineas well as future.
However, future looks more interesting and challenging, and exciting and yes, we're stepping into it, every minute, every second.
Therefore, I started to learn, NOW is always the CAUSEI learned not to seek for CAUSE in the past,
and I love imagining what it is like in the future,
"What's the meaning that I am doing this right now?"
"Is there a meaning that I get to know this new friend right now?"
Ya, due to my Belief, whatever we are doing or experiencing at the moment, there is always a meaning... and that's the arrangement of God.
Therefore, it's somehow interesting, when I have nothing better to do :-D
to start imagine what's God's plan to me... (of cource nobody ever succeed, but, it's an interesting journey)
Recently I have just finished one of the japanese drama, "Byakuyakou" 白夜行
frankly, I do not like this show, even though I know there're lots of fans there, cyring out loud for the LOVE between the couple.
It is a very sad and dark, and crooked and distorted kind of love story, but I'd rather say, it's not a love story at all.
The meaning of the title is,
"a walk in the midnight sun"
(from Wikipedia: The midnight sun is a phenomenon occurring in latitudes north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle where the sun is continuously visible for at least 24 hours once per year. Since there are no permanent human settlements south of the Antarctic Circle, the countries and territories whose population experiences it are limited to Alaska, northern Canada, Greenland, Iceland, northern Norway, Sweden and Finland, and extremities of Russia such as Novaya Zemlya and the cities of Murmansk, Norilsk and Vorkuta. A quarter of Finland's territory lies above the Arctic Circle, and as a consequence the midnight sun can be experienced — for more and more days, the further north one goes. At Finland's northernmost point, the sun does not set for 73 days during summer.)
Ahh...!! I am not going to tell the story now (wait till I have the mood)basically, 2 of them, (the couple) ended up keep getting rid of people in their life, who knew their past. (they killed their parent for each other)
The reason for them to keep killing,
1. for each other
2. for the sufferings they have encountered in the past, from the parents.
The police who has been after them for 14 years,
said something like this...
ah... it went like that...
he was trying to tell what he has found out, and what he speculated about their killing act and how he stiched all the little bits and pieces together, to the librarian, who knows them since the couple were age 11. (ie. 14 years ago)
The librarian, being a nice and kind lady started crying for their misfortune,
she started asking, "why did they have to suffer like this, why did the adults have to do such cruel things to them, (when they were 11 years old)?"
However, the police responded like this,"it's all because both of them are morons!"
"if they have the 'intelligence' to kill their own parents, and hide it, they should have the intelligence to know that this will not get them anywhere in the future."
"if they have the 'intelligence' to subsequently kill so many other people, they should have the intelligence to know that they should surrender themselves to the police, and sort things out."
Sometimes, we do like to blame our own misfortune on others..
and it's like... the 'misfortune' (regardless it's big or small) IS the immunity for your future wrong doing!!
How many people ARE like this, and how many nations out there ARE like this?
will this get us anywhere, or it'll just turn each and everyone of us into some most distorted and ugly monsters...
ya, monster human, monster nation!
and how many of us, actually start thinking about the future, and start doing some right things now!!
I am not saying something 'good', but rather, what an individual thinks, RIGHT for the individual's future... so that, the future you will onto turn back and seek for the CAUSE now...
(but of course this will not include those psychopaths)
Oh, back to the drama, another message that I received is that, it's a battle between justice and love,serious... I really do not regard the relationship, and how much they've done for each other as an act of love.
What's the meaning of love, people will ask,
I will not be able to answer that, however, there is always a guideline somewhere,
by some smart wise man,this is something that somebody said,
LOVE is,
when you want to make yourself a better person, for that person you claim to love,
it's that simple.
We love our parents, we love our children, and we love our spouse, we love our brothers and sisters,
therefore, we keep ourselves happy and healthy,
it's that simple.
Boston Legal - The Ass Fat Jungle
About Shirley
This episode let me know more about Shirley Schmidt. I have always thought that she is there to control the situation, as opposed to Paul who is a typical boss, Shirley is about right.
However, this episode show the soft side as well as the human and weak side of her. She felt pain and guilty that she had to defend that "hit-and-run" boy and posting hostile questions to that tiny and humble but sharp old alzheimer lady in the court. She almost broke into tears. (and me too!!)
At the end of the day, she visited her father in the hospital, and told the father, she had won a case today in the court, but not the best case she has ever wanted.
As a viewer, you tend to judge her character and her decision to defend that boy. However, as a human, usually we fall into such trap, and at the end of the day, we will feel bad, and guilty and yes, that will be a black dot in your life, but yet, life still goes on!!
Are you being manipulated?
Yes, are these people trying to manipulate us?
in the name of your improvment,
in the name of love,
in the name of your future,
in the name of your wealth,
in the name of your health,
in the name of your whatever %#$$^%&$ sake,
we are being manipulated.
We must have heard those words for zillion time.
Yes, by doing what he/she says, I will improve,
Yes, he/she loves me, that's why I MUST listen to him/her,
Yes, what he/she says is true, it's for my futures, I MUST listen to him/her,
Yes, if I do what he/she told me to do, I will be rich by age 30.
Sometimes, we even manipulate others intentionally/unintentionally.
Cos, we tend to think about anything, do any consideraion, make any decision, as a projection from OURSELVES.
As a parent, we manipulate our children to be future doctors or lawyers.
As a parent, we manipulate our children, in the name of love, to do whatever we say.
As a chid, we manipulated our parents to buy toys that we wanted.
As a spouse, we manipulated our husband/wife to do as we intended.
As a boss, we manipulated our subordinates, in the name of "your progress and improvement", to work overtime and work extra of the jobscopes.
As a subordinate, we manipulated our colleagues, and bosses, so that we can PROGRESS.
Skils of manipulation,
1. Make you feel guilty
2. Make you feel obligated
3. Make you feel sympathetic towards him/her
4. Make you feel embarrassed
5. Make you feel incompetitive
6. Make you feel "not good enough"
7. Make you feel bad when you express your emotion
This, generates a few types of people.
Those who are willing to be manipulated. (I don't know what's in their mind)
Those who are very resistant to be manipulated. (ie. you are still being manipulated, cos, you try so hard to resist it)
Those who manipulates.
What a sad world!!!
From wikipedia,
Social psychology
In a psychological context, manipulation means to influence a person or a group of people in such a way that the manipulator tries to get what he or she wants or makes a person believe something in a calculating, indirect and somewhat dishonest way. It is a form of psychological abuse.
For example, a manipulator will
use arguments that the manipulator does not believe in himself
or withhold or distort relevant information,
or launch false information (disinformation)
or "play" on the emotions of the person.
physically move the person, like a puppet
This might also involve propaganda when it is directed to more than one person.
There is a debate concerning the use of manipulation. For example, in general it is disturbing to have one's free will tampered with, while on the other hand, it may be desirable to manipulate or intimidate youths into taking a course of action that is alternative to their current course of actions, such as abusing firearms or narcotics.
Being optimistic, being pessimistic, Being selfless, being self-centered
I am not here to see 'the mistake' of Dr.Chase,
but, it's about the end of this episode,
about the dying sister and her younger brother.
It went like that...
err... I did't catch the opening of this episode, therefore, I didn't follow how the sister fall sick,
(I switched to the wrong channel, trying to find out who will be THE patient of this episode, happily and confidently explaining to Mak how the 'formulae' is, of this show. ie. usually at the beginning of an episode, there will be an activity, with lots of people and the camera will focus on one person, however, the real patient will be those 'side dish'... Ah!! there it was, a family garden party, an old man, looked depressed, some ladies at the background, then, OPening, cheh!! it's "Without a Trace")so, the whole show is about how/whether Dr.Chase made that mistake,
ie. he made a wrong diagnosis, causing a female patient dying. (Oh, who was actually supposed to be Dr.Foreman's patient)
then, more diagnoses were done and they decided that she needed a new liver.
Therefore, the younger brother the patient, gave her his liver,
another mistake... cos, like Dr.House always said, "People always lie!!"
apparently, the brother has a bad liver, due to drug abuse.
3 months later,
The lady was admitted to the hospital again, dying, again!!
Liver was not working fine, and she had a Hepatitis C.
Yes, then only they found out about the brother's bad liver.
OK, skip!
The end was,
the sister WAS dying,
the brother felt guilty, (in fact, he was rushing to packup him, and the sister, to go to some third world country, buy a liver from the black market there, and do the transplant over there)
Dr.Chase had finally willing to meet the patient,
came to tell her that, the process will be deadly as well,
no matter what, she WAS going to die and she wouldn't want to die in foreign land, leaving her daughters behind.
She got the message and calmly accepted the fate.
The younger brother, came crying to her, apologizing.
However, she only smiled at him, and said, that in fact she wanted to thank him for giving her another 3 months of life, to be with her daughters and that it was great!!
I am a very 'TV' person. However, I normally do not watch for entertainment, I watch to learn, learn about myself, and learn about human.
I normally don't tend to judge the roles in the show, not because it's just a show,
it's because I spend my time otherwise instead.
I try to capture the message in the story, (or inventing a message, to be received) and try to understand about human.
About how vulnerable human can be,
about how weak-minded human can be,
about how confused human can be,
about how lonely human can be,
but yet, a vulnerable man will be strong,
a weak-minded man can be tough,
a confused man can be confident,
a lonely man can be loud and cheeful...
to me, it's because of one thing,
then we can be optimistic, we can be selfless, because of one thing,
that very one single and simple thing,
yet so afraid to touch, so afraid to loose,
so far to reach, so difficult to achieve, and so tiring to maintain.
FRIENDS
Alan Shore to Denny Craine: Ralph Waldo Emerson said, 'He reckoned a friend to be the masterpiece of nature'.
How many time are we regularly reminded that friends are important, that we'd better treasure them, that we'd better not loose them?
(I mean those real friends, who'll just 'be there', not good friends, or funny friends, or entertaining friends, or best friends, or niceman friends, or humble friends, and definitely not party friends)
Being a third generation in a chinese society outside of mainland China, we're taught more 'important' stuff... and friend, is most of the time, out of the question, cos, you'll neglect your homework, APPARENTLY.
Parents tell you, they are the most important, (ya, thanks for giving me life, cos, I am your investment?)
Siblings tell you, they are important,
Wife/husbands tell you, they're most important NOW (cos, you're married NOW, don't go out with friends anymore!!)
cos, the way we have always heard is,
'Siblings are just like your limbs, whereas spouse is just like your shirts!!' ie. you can throw away anytime...
That is why, there are a lot a lot a lot of things that chinese still hold in belief, (we call it the PRECIOUS TRADITION)IS pathetic.
Pathetic in such a way, it's near to being inhumane,
to people with more money and less money,
to whether you are a gal or a boy,
to whether you are the first born son, or second,
to whether, as a wife, if you can give birth to a son, or a daughter,
to whether, as somebody, if you pretend and act like a gentleman, or be yourself, be honest and be raw!and whatever #$#%$^%&^(%*(&*$&^%^$^%@
Anyway, I am suppose to talk about 'friends' :-D however I am not here to glorify friends,
cos, glorifying something or somebody is only an short-term emotion, it will soon be washed away in the time of memory.
So,
It's a blessing, if our parents have the wisdom to tell us how important friends are in your life,
it's a blessing, if our parents did not tell us,but in our bumpy journey of life, we could figure out how important friends are, in our life.
'Friend' is the only type of close relationship that is no blood-bonded,
Friends, (I mean real friends) are the only type of people who want to be friend with you, as who you are, and not expecting anything in return. (I mean real friends)
They don't ask you to study harder to get NO.1 in class and they'll love you more,
they don't ask you to work harder to earn more dollars, and they'll love you more,
they don't tell you to sweettalk to them, and they'll love you more,
they don't tell you to hold back your emotion and not show your frustration after a weary day of work, and they'll love you more,
they don't tell you not to retaliate, because they do not like it, and they'll love you more,
Friends, don't love you too much, nore do they love you too little.
Friends, are not scared if loosing you as a friend, cos, they are very sure that you are there. (and vice versa)
We are who we are,
we show who we are,
and we accept who they are,
and most importantly we share life, especially growing up together.
As a matter of fact, we cannot 'grow up' together with our parents, (it's a cruel truth)
and sometimes, we cannot 'grow up' together with our brothers and sisters, cos they have their own friends to grow up with, together, if they are blessed with friends in their life.
I remember a friend told me this, when I was in the foreign land long time ago.
She said, "If I am looking for something in return, I wouldn't be trying to make your happy since the beginning!"
(Kiss you, my dear friend!)
The words that Alan Shore told Denny Craine, inspired me.
Yes, we don't really think about 'friend' much,
I mean, where they stand?
So, I like the quotation given by Alan Shore, "Friend IS the masterpiece of nature"
As I said, it's the only type of relationship, that is not blood-bonded, nor expectation expected!!
\(^_^)/
To lighten up,
another quotation from Boston Legal,
Boston Legal - Fat Ass Jungle
Denny: Thank you, Alan, for coming with me [to be tested for Alzheimers].
Alan: I think friends should always encourage friends to get their heads examined.
ps: In fact, it's very easy to 'see' a person, a person with friends (I mean real friends) are cheerful, grateful, thankful, helpful, optimistic, AND they talk about good stuff, beautiful stuff, AND inspire others. While, a person without friends (I mean real friends) are bitter, insecure, ungrateful, selfish, unwilling to lend a helping hand, (cos, everybody is trying to cheat, and take advantage on him/her) AND they talk about negative things, ugly things, etc. (I do not want to elaborate more, otherwise, I will want to jump off the building!!)
Something to share, with all women
As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter, "Don't forget your girlfriends," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass.
"They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you'll have, you are still going to need girlfriends. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. And remember that girlfriends are not only your friends, but your sisters, our daughters, and other relatives too. You'll need other women. Women always do."
'What a funny piece of advice,' the young woman thought. 'Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake, a grown-up, not a young girl who needs girlfriends! Surely my husband and the family we'll start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'
But she listened to her Mother; she kept contact with her girlfriends and made more each year.
As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, girlfriends are the mainstays of her life.
After 50 years of living in this world, here is what she learned:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Love waxes and wanes.
Heart breaks.
Careers end.
Jobs come and go.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Men don't call when they say they will.
BUT girlfriends are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it for yourself, your girlfriends will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out.
The world wouldn't be the same without them.
When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still.
ANYWAY... by Mother Teresa
If we do not know what real LOVE is...
what simplicity and true heart means... this is a passage that will always guide us
But of course it only touches the hearts which want to be touched,
and gets into ears that want to listen.
When simple words like this seems to be so far away from us,
We are also too far away from where we really want to get to, and what we really want to be.
There is a different between being wise, and being intelligent,
Wise people are generally happier, simpler, and kinder,
Intelligent people... well... the whole world is built by intelligent people, thanks to that.
That is why, the whole world is in such trouble, and more than half of the population is miserable.
Because we make the world as we wanted it, we see the world as we wanted to see,
That is because we are all intelligent miserable individuals.
ANYWAY
~~~~~~~
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, It is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Nobleman, Go to Hell!!
You think that others are lower class than you are.
You think that whatever you do are the most righteous and whatever others do is always wrong.
You think that you should be treated more differently and specially while you have never done the same to the rest.
You think that you have been doing good deeds to others and would like to claim the credit and get some respect, while you're making the whole world around you upset and making everybody around you miserable!!
I wish to tell you, how selfish and self-centered you are.
You act as if you are such a friendly and easy-going person in front of the people you interact with, AT THAT VERY MOMENT, while you talk bad things about that person when he/she is out of your sight.
You talk to the extent as if, you are the most just person in the world and the rests are just nuisance, rubbish, worthless.
You talk about how much you have sacrificed for people, but you do not see what others have been compromising.
When situation protects your 'importance', you claimed that they your friends, and they should be treated with respect.
When situation arises as you do not want to serve them anymore, ooh~~~ tsk! tsk! tsk!! they are not your friends!!
Even a small tiny bit of favour unto others, you will stinge on it and make a big fuss out of it.
You LOVE judging others!!
"How could she have done that?"
"How could he say such thing?"
"How can he not understand me?" (ie. He's then not my favourite!!)
"Why doesn't she think about us? be considerate for us?"
Oh!!! she is bad, he is bad, you are wrong, they are not good enough, etc.
ie. I am the good one, I am the right one, I am best of all!
(shh... and when nobleman feels that he is incompetent at one moment, he will start the self-pity tactic, to gain consolation from others, because he is worried that he will be condemned, so, oh!! act pitiful first, act sympathetic first!!)
Oh!! I admire Nobleman, cos, he can be SO self-indulge in his own world!
"Why should I be the one who do it?", cos he thinks he is the noble one!
"Why do others not come and serve me?", cos he thinks he is the king!
Nobleman pretends that he is your friend and then say negative things about you to others, so that the others will continue thinking that he is such a nobleman, and you are a pig.
However he will never admit that he does it and he will start putting words into other people's mouths, such as "Mr.X said that you are XXXXX!"
or, he will add another sentence after this, "oh, if I know that you'll be upset, I shouldn't have told you what Mr.X have said about you!!"
(Oh ya!! "I didn't say it, I didn't do it!!", yes, rule of thumb, die also never admit!! rule2 of thumb, start pointing finger!!)
However, nobleman lives a miserable life, cos, he continuously pretend in front of the others,
continuously comparing what he does not have, and others have, or joyous about what he has, while others cannot afford!!
continuously wondering how others think about him,
continuously plotting on gaining favours and $$$ from others,
continuously thinking of bad things about others, so that he can have it in his routine conversations,
continuously judging others with his own short and distorted rulers,
continuously thinking of good things to say about himself, while... oh!! "good things about yourself", and "bad things about others" IS disproportinate,
continuously feeling unhappy and dissatisfied with life that he is living,
continuously feeling ungrateful and insecure about what he is having and what he is given,
continuously living in fear, cos, given the things that he does not know how to treasure, however, due to greed, he is scared of loosing them...
Are we a nobleman?
Are we not?

GOODBYE!!!
Again!! I didn't start from the beginning, when it caught my attention, the lady (the leading actress) who is the mother of a 2-year-old baby girl, on parol, was arrested again by police for stealing.
When the officer asked her about her 2-year-old baby, and mentioned that the children welfare is looking into the matter, the lady insisted that the baby girl was taken care of by the lady's mother as she didn't want the children welfare people to take her daughter away from her. The story went on... the lady was put into the detention cell, cause they just cannot release her, and the lady in the cell, worrying about her baby girl at home, ALONE!!
She kept trying to make calls to her err... boyfriend or ex-husband (I am not so sure, as I didn't start from the beginning of the show) and also her mum, to ask them to go to her house to have a look at the baby.
Boyfriend, never got through the phone, and mum? finally the old lady went to her apartment, the baby already stopped crying. Her neighbour (who hated the lady as according to her, the lady always brought different men back to her place) told the old mother that there was men in the apartment, when the mother asked if "a man has came by". Therefore, the mother left the place.
The lady was getting more and more worried in the detention cell. I was thinking, why didn't she just tell the officer that the baby girl was left home alone.
In the end, the lady gave up, called the police officer and her case officer, told them the truth, and went to see the baby... picked up her body. :-(
I was thinking... sometimes, human is easily blinded, blinded by self-justification, blinded by self-satisfaction. As a mother, she definitely loves her baby girl a lot and that's the reason she didn't want to give her up to the children welfare people, even though she's on parol, even though she's taking drug, even though she's taking different men home, even though she's not having constant and proper income. But she LOVES her baby, as every mother does.
However she was blinded by her own love to the baby, and that cost the life of a 2-year-old girl, and later, of course cost herself another imprisonment, for probably child-abuse, or child-ignorant, or whatever it is.
That somehow reminded me of a story I was told when I was a little child, mm... probably by grandma. (grandma always told us bedtime story, and then we'd start entertaining her by singing and dancing on her bed, ya, that time double-bed was our stage)
The story is pretty simple, probably finished by 1 or 2 lines...
Let's see...
Long time ago, (well, it'll always start with 'long time ago') 2 mothers were fighting for a baby, both claimed to be the mother of the baby. Nobody could solve this case so, 2 of them were brought to the king. After looking into the situation, the king suggested the baby being cut into half and each of them will have one. One of the mothers quickly applauded the idea, and thus the king knew who the real mother was.
Well... a very simple story, but it worked for small kids, when we were.
Human, is very weak. We are always blinded easily by loads of stuff surrounding us, outside us, and inside us. Particularly anger, jealousy, envy, greed, oh... what's the seven sins again?? :-) ka!! then.. this leads to another topic called 'SE7EN' huh??nah!!!
Anyway, ya, human, everybody, IS easily blinded.We are blinded by our own pride, that we forget how to love.We are blinded by our own greed, that we forget about family values.We are blinded by our own anger, that we forget to be considerate.We are blinded by our own gluttony, that we forget we need to take good care of our own health.We are blinded by our own envy, that we forget to give is REALLY to gain.We are blinded by our own lust, that we forget there IS real love in the world.We are blinded by our own laziness, that we forget the rest of the world around us have been working very hard.
Anyway, of course I am not in any authority to talk about "SE7EN" :-) that's my own err... "thought" and therefore, I chose to use some 'layman terms' :-)
Ah!! I am far from the movie topic again, however, I guess that's how human brains function right?
(err....)

Schadenfreude
Anyway,
This episode was about him defending Heather Locklear's Kelly Nolan a.k.a Black Widow.
OK, no story about Boston Legal, but, this term Schadenfreude,
I particularly like to mm... think about it.
The Wikipedia's definition is:
Schadenfreude is a German expression (from Schaden: damage, harm; and Freude: joy) meaning pleasure taken from someone else's misfortune or shameful joy. The word is often capitalized, however since all German nouns (proper or common) are capitalized it should be possible to spell it lower case in English.
It is usually believed to not have a direct English equivalent. For example, Harper Collins German-English Dictionary translates schadenfreude as malicious glee or gloating. An apparent English equivalent, derived from Greek, is epicaricacy. This word does not appear in most modern dictionaries but does appear in Nathaniel Bailey's Universal Etymological English Dictionary (1727) under a slightly different spelling (epicharikaky) and gives its etymology as epi (upon) + chara (joy) + kakon (evil).
Taken in a broader sense, it could apply to the feeling of being “blessed” because there are always people who are worse off than ourselves. Instead of compassion or pity for those less fortunate, we are thankful that it is they instead of us. However, it is never used in that sense in German, where it always carries a negative connotation. German actually draws a distinction between "secret schadenfreude" (a private feeling) and "open schadenfreude" (Hohn) which is outright public derision. Ultimately though, in the english language Schadenfreude is commonly characterized as "sick pleasure".
I guess... most of the time, most of us are Schadenfreude, not much directly related to the above explanation, but more related to this particular Boston Legal's episode. Alan Shore was pleading to the juries, if it's out of Schadenfreude that they wished to convict Kelly, then, they had to really think about it, as this case has no evidence at all, and the whole case was brought to the court, out of the Schadenfreude of the society.
As it is, that's what most of us do sometimes. (on purpose, or accidentally) Therefore, we hear ourselves, we hear others commenting negatively about other people every day, every hour. I believe it is because of this little devilish feeling that makes most of us, commiting such act, every day, every hour. It is because, by doing this, we, almost!! will feel justified with our own wrong doings. By saying who and who is bad, by saying who and who is incapable, by saying who and who is impolite, by saying who and who is useless, by saying who and who is not friendly, not kindhearted, judge them... YA!!!! and Yeh!!!! we feel great!! Schadenfreude!!
Therefore, it's time to remind ourselves "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her." (John 8:7)
Isn't it??

My Own Bible Reading Collections, John 9:14-41
14: Now it was a sabbath day when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.
15: The Pharisees again asked him how he had received his sight. And he said to them, "He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see."
16: Some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, for he does not keep the sabbath." But others said, "How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?" There was a division among them.
17: So they again said to the blind man, "What do you say about him, since he has opened your eyes?" He said, "He is a prophet."
18: The Jews did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of the man who had received his sight,
19: and asked them, "Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?"
20: His parents answered, "We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;
21: but how he now sees we do not know, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he is of age, he will speak for himself."
22: His parents said this because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if any one should confess him to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.
23: Therefore his parents said, "He is of age, ask him."
24: So for the second time they called the man who had been blind, and said to him, "Give God the praise; we know that this man is a sinner."
25: He answered, "Whether he is a sinner, I do not know; one thing I know, that though I was blind, now I see."
26: They said to him, "What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?"
27: He answered them, "I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you too want to become his disciples?"
28: And they reviled him, saying, "You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.
29: We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from."
30: The man answered, "Why, this is a marvel! You do not know where he comes from, and yet he opened my eyes.
31: We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if any one is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.
32: Never since the world began has it been heard that any one opened the eyes of a man born blind.
33: If this man were not from God, he could do nothing."
34: They answered him, "You were born in utter sin, and would you teach us?" And they cast him out.
35: Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, "Do you believe in the Son of man?"
36: He answered, "And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?"
37: Jesus said to him, "You have seen him, and it is he who speaks to you."
38: He said, "Lord, I believe"; and he worshiped him.
39: Jesus said, "For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind."
40: Some of the Pharisees near him heard this, and they said to him, "Are we also blind?"
41: Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, `We see,' your guilt remains.
My Own Bible Reading, Matthew 13:18-23
18: "Hear then the parable of the sower.
19: When any one hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in his heart; this is what was sown along the path.
20: As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
21: yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away.
22: As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the delight in riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.
23: As for what was sown on good soil, this is he who hears the word and understands it; he indeed bears fruit, and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty."
My Own Bible Reading, Philippians 4:6,7
Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down.
My Own Bible Reading, Ecclesiastes 5:10-12
Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owner except to feast his eyes on them? The sleep of a laborer is sweet, whether he eats little or much, but the abundance of a rich man permits him no sleep.
My Own Bible Reading, 2 Timothy 2:22-25
22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.
24 And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
25 Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,
My Own Bible Reading 1 John 4:2-3,20
2:This is how you can recognise the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
3:but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
20 If anyone says, I love God, yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
Something stays in your mind forever, even though it is just a joke
"Driving to the office this morning on the motorway,
I looked over to my right and there was a woman in a BMW doing 90 miles per hour with her face up next to her rear view mirror putting on her eyeliner!
I looked away for a couple of seconds and when I looked back she was halfway over in my lane, still working on that makeup!!!
It scared me (I'm a man) so badly that I dropped my electric shaver,
which knocked the bacon roll out of my other hand.
In all the confusion of trying to straighten out the car using my knees against the steering wheel,
it knocked my mobile from my ear,
which fell into the coffee between my legs,
splashed and burned my 'Meat'n two veg',
causing me to scream,
which made me drop the cigarette out of my mouth,
ruined my shirt and
